Dental Centre

The Dental Clinic in St. Petersburg has a license for all types of dental treatments and X-ray examinations and closely cooperates with St. Petersburg State University of Medicine and Dentistry. It uses the latest dental equipment, material and technologies from world leader companies.

The newest technologies make it possible to choose suitable orthopedic constructions and to prognosticate the outcome of treatment.

Dentists:
There is a system of professional upgrading for our dentists and other dental health-care workers in The Dental Clinic. This is why the clinic always provides high-quality dental services. Our specialists publish the results of their achievements in scientific journals and take part in Russian and international conferences.

Guarantees:
After finishing a complex dental treatment, each patient is given a guarantee certificate. The guarantee period lasts from one to three years and depends on the type of treatment. We also offer special insurance for the results of dental treatment.
Each patient who gets treatment in our clinic is given a discount card which may be used by his/her family members. At the end of each year, old discount cards are substituted with new ones that have a higher percent discount for further treatment.

Treatment and Restoration of Teeth:

- Restorative Treatment
Tooth treatment is carried out under anesthesia in our clinic. Our dentists use only advanced anesthetic techniques and prefer a two-stage method, i.e. maximal pain control. We have carpula syringes, disposable carpulas with anesthetics and disposable needles. We use anesthesia from only the world’s leading anesthetics companies, such as HOEHST (Germany) and SEPDODONT (France).
Our patients often ask us to make their dreams come true: to get a Hollywood smile. Why would they like to get it? The answer is simple: they are dissatisfied with the shape and the colour of their teeth but they do not want crowns. So, what is this “Hollywood smile”? It is necessary to attach aesthetic onlays made of special restorative material to the tooth surface that is visible while smiling. At the same time, your tooth stays alive and unprepared from all sides. Such onlays are called veneers. There are two ways of making veneers available in today’s dental practice. Non-metal ones are made by dental technicians and are fixed on prepared teeth. It takes a few days and requires a try-in. However, there is a direct method of aesthetic restoration which only requires you to come in once. We can make 2-4 such restorations per day.

- Caries treatment.
The procedure consists of making a cavity in a tooth and filling. By “filling” we mean putting in place a special cavity liner and then a seal material. In case of deep caries, we put a treating inlay containing calcium hydrate that causes secondary dentin formation, i.e. providing additional protection of the pulp. We have only light-cured materials made by leading foreign companies such as FILTEK Z250, 3M-ESPE (USA), ESTHET-X, and DENTSPLY (USA). We strictly differentiate all these materials according to the initial purposes of their use. In other words, there are different materials developed for aesthetic dental restorations, aesthetic veneers and restorations of lateral mastifactory teeth (molars).

-Endodontitis (pulpitis) treatment.
Endodontitis is a nerve inflammation. Its treatment includes pulp removal, mechanic and drug preparation of root canals and filling. What is the procedure? The mechanic preparation of a root canal consists of making a cavity along the canal that is needed for effective filling. The drug preparation of a root canal is the removal of the rests of a nerve to avoid relapsing inflammation after filling a root canal.

- Periodontal treatment.
Periodontitis is an inflammation of periodontal tissues surrounding a tooth. It is the result of some injuries, asymptomatic endodontitis or poor canal sealing that can lead to a cyst (a cavity in the bone tissue of a jaw). Restorative treatment of periodontitis usually requires three visits. The first two visits cover canal preparation. Here it is difficult to unclog poorly filled canals. We use special instruments made mainly by Swiss companies and medicines that affect materials in root canals. The work is checked with a radiovisiograph (Germany) and a specially designed Japanese device for controlling root canal preparation. In case of severe tooth decay, we can make a direct restoration in the oral cavity by means of composite and anchor metallic or fiberglass posts – one or more for each canal.

- Wedge-shaped defects of teeth.
Patients often complain about cosmetic discomfort or high sensitivity of tooth areas joining gums. In these places, you can find a cavity called a wedge-shaped defect. A standard way of treatment is correcting the wedge-shaped defects by filling.

- Fissure filling.
Fissures are cavities on chewing surfaces of chewing teeth. If they are deep or narrow (so-called “closed”), they become a place where food particles gather, causing caries and tooth decay. To avoid this problem, fissures must be prepared under anesthesia and then be filled with a special material.

- Dental Surgery Prosthetics.
We have dental anesthesiologists and dental surgeons in our staff. Almost every clinic is known to make anesthesia and to perform surgery. We not only perform complicated surgical operations at a high level but also offer you a wide range of anesthetic methods including initial narcosis and needle-free anesthesia. We use only certified and the most powerful anesthetics that allow for the best result with the least amount of medicine. It is generally known that the less the dosage of medicine we inject into tissues, the more pleasant are the feelings at the end of anesthetic effect, i.e when you leave the clinic.
We have been using a three-stage pain control method in our clinic since 1993 and our patients not only feel no pain during dental treatment, but also feel so comfortable that they even forget where they are. We are also able to successfully use a computer syringe to inject anesthetics that take into account individual characteristics of each patient. Unlike many clinics, we use not only a carpula syringe, but also many other methods that help remove the words “painful and unpleasant” from your vocabulary!

- Prosthetic dentistry.
There are three types of dentures: fixed, removable and partially removable.

- Fixed dentures.
These dentures are attached to natural teeth for a long period. These dentures look like separate crowns or bridges (a number of crowns) that are fixed on previously prepared teeth. Some people think that in this case, they need to devitalize their teeth. Fortunately, this is no longer the case. Modern technology used by our dentists lets them keep a pulp alive. You can wear temporary crowns on your teeth while making new crowns or bridges. The most popular orthopedic material is ceramics fused to metal. The bar of such a denture is made of chromium-cobalt alloy. The outer layer is covered with durable and highly aesthetic ceramics. The bar may also be made of a more precious alloy containing gold and platinum – the so-called “ceramics fused to gold”. We use only ceramics of perfect quality, made by leading companies such as IVOCLAR, DUCERA (Germany) and others.

- Non-metal ceramics.
Along with ceramics fused to metal, we frequently use non-metal ceramics (VIP category). A whole piece ceramic crown has the perfect aesthetic and functional characteristics necessary for chewing and other purposes. The main advantage of non-metal crowns is that your teeth look very natural and are the most similar to your own teeth. These crowns are more expensive than those made of metal because their production involves high-tech and expensive equipment such as “IPS Empress” (IVOCLAR, Germany) and “Vintage” (SHOFU, Japan). Sometimes we recommend you to set crowns on inlays made of the same material. The advantage of these inlays compared with ceramic fused to metal ones is durability and lack of oxidizing.

- Inlays.
In case of the little decay of masticatory teeth, we make every effort to keep dental tissues and we prefer inlays to crowns. Such technology is called microprosthetics with inlays. Made of the durable non-metal ceramics “IPS Empress”, the inlay resembles the surrounding dental tissues and stays in your tooth longer than a usual filling. The Empress ceramics has the same characteristics as vital teeth so even the most pretentious patients prefer it.

- Veneers.
It is possible to restore functions and improve aesthetics of front teeth with ceramic veneers – thin onlays stuck to your front teeth. The non-metal ceramic veneers “IPS Empress” (IVOCLAR, Germany) create irreproachable aesthetics.

- Removable dentures.
There are a lot of cases when patients are partially toothless and it is impossible to set a fixed denture. In such instances, we can offer removable dentures of two types: fully removable (if a patient is completely toothless) or partially removable (if a patient is partially toothless). Removable dentures may be laminar and clasp (arched or supported). In the latter case, a metal arch substitutes for a significant part of a plastic base. Removable dentures have different characteristics.
Clasp dentures produce a masticating load not only on the gum and bone tissue of jaws, but also on attachments. They do this by means of special rests which may be made of metal or plastic. Removable laminar dentures are supported only by the alveolar ridge. To improve their fixation in the oral cavity we use dentures with a soft functional edge to achieve a close and comfortable joint even under a heavy load. But you should bear in mind that a removable denture will never be attached in the oral cavity as strongly as one that is fixed.
If you are against removable dentures but have lost most of your teeth, you will be offered implants. Unfortunately, only a few people can afford this procedure due to its high cost. Cheer up! We have different kinds of removable dentures (made of nylon, durable soft plastic, with a soft functional edge, silicon liners, telescopic crowns, attachments and etc.). Take your time to extract the teeth even if they are decayed. They cannot be attachments for a bridge but helpful for a partially removable denture (dentures with telescopic crowns and attachments). These dentures will be supported not only by your gums, but also by the roots of your teeth.

- Tooth whitening (bleaching).
Almost all patients would like to have a white and radiant smile. Today, dentists offer various methods of tooth whitening.

- Airflow.
Your teeth will be cleaned gently with a specially developed device (Sweden). A spray of air, sodium bicarbonate and a water jet meet to quickly and painlessly remove bacteria, plaque and soft deposits from interproximal spaces and smooth surfaces of the teeth. The ingredients are dispensed at a comfortable temperature and have a nice taste.
The airflow method is much faster and more thorough than toothpastes and is non-abrasive as the teeth are cleaned without any contact with the ingredients. Sodium crystals applied at a high speed meet the surface to remove plaque. A water jet washes off all cleaned deposits and corrects the temperature of the teeth. Thus, it is possible to remove all the plaque you would have to clean at home for several weeks. But to prolong the effect of procedure it is necessary to cover the teeth with a protective lacquer.

- Zoom!
There are two ZOOM methods of tooth whitening: home and professional.

The home method requires you to use whitening mouth guards (like those in boxing), fill them with whitening gel and wear them during the day or night. The disadvantages of this method are:

• difficulty in choosing the proper dose of whitening gel;
• insufficient control over the results of whitening;
• increased tooth sensitivity due to active gel ingredients;
• whitening only to some extent (it is practically impossible to significantly lighten teeth and to make them as white as you wish).

In our clinic, we offer you sparing, but at the same time the most effective method of professional whitening. It is ZOOM based on a light beam effect. Unlike other methods this one is absolutely safe for your tooth enamel as we use a non-acidic whitening gel. A spectrum of a light beam of fixed length lets us avoid the “overheating” of the nerve of a tooth. The teeth usually stay white for a long time. But each patient may get a whiteness which varies from that of other patients. Our clinical experience shows that after bleaching, the teeth may be homogeneously white. How long they will be white for depends only on your oral health care. To encourage you, we will give you a present for home use to protect your white teeth for as long as possible.
The ZOOM whitening technology is certified as safe. All our dentists using this method have had a special training at an American Educational Centre.

- Periodontal diseases.
Periodontal diseases. Treatment of parodontosis and periodontitis
A lot of patients suffer, more or less, from gum diseases (periodontitis, parodontosis). And it is one of the most vital issues in modern dentistry. In spite of a large number of methods and medicines used for periodontal treatment, an individual approach in seeking a cure for each patient is still a priority. In our clinic, periodontists apply technologies that stop gum inflammation and bone tissue deconstruction in jaws. They use advanced methods which depend on the extent of inflammation and are the best in increasing blood circulation in gums and in improving bone tissues in jaws. It results by eliminating gingival hemorrhage and puffiness as well as decreasing tooth mobility.
Most patients that come to our clinic have periodontal diseases (periodontitis, parodontosis). We offer not only dental hygienist services, but also tooth-preserving periodontal operations and laser therapy. Our periodontists are capable of using new methods for periodontal treatment. Lots of them are patented.
One of the reasons why periodontal diseases grow progressively worse is poor oral hygiene or simply plaque. Patients are often afraid of removing plaque because of the fear of loosing their “last teeth”, i.e. the teeth they have. Almost everyone keeps in mind those “awful metallic scalers” which were used for scaling dental tartar in the past. But now everything has changed. New ultrasound methods are absolutely painless. In complicated cases, we make periodontal operations allowing us to cut tooth mobility and pull the gum if the teeth are uncovered. If a patient is at risk for tooth loss or has large bone pockets, we can replant bone tissues and use special membranes. These methods let us stop inflammation. Our specialists also familiar with the most advanced techniques (non-operational) of restorative medicine applied for the treatment of periodontal diseases. They include laser therapy (laser beaming of gum-inflamed tissues) and photophoresis (administration of medicines into gums by means of a laser). Due to these methods for the complex treatment of periodontal diseases, we are often able to not only stop the inflammation process in periodontal tissues, but also prolong the therapeutic effect as much as possible. After eliminating inflammation, we recommend to our patients special prosthetic methods helpful for preserving the integrity of dentitions.

- Bite correction
We offer you orthodontic treatment to correct your bite and avoid not only enamel injuries, but also tooth extraction. You can choose from a wide variety of brace systems ranging from metallic to ceramic or sapphire. There are no age limits for bite correction.
Braces attached to each tooth join together with an orthodontic wire. Both braces and wires may be metallic or white in colour. Some patients prefer braces of a definite colour or even of different colours. They may be attached to the outer side of your teeth or to the inner one. The duration of bite correction depends on deformation and takes approximately a year. It is necessary for a patient to come to see an orthodontist once or twice a month. At the end of the treatment period, all patients are given a CD with the photos of his/her appearance before and after correction, an impression of the bite made before treatment and a piece of what he/she has now to compare. It is the best illustration to convince you and your children that if you wish, everything can be changed.
